Day 4

Thursday 6th August

Today was a special day in camp, as Colour War broke out!
We were split into different coloured teams and had a chance to go and change into our respective colours.  Then it was time for the games to begin!

The day was filled with a great atmosphere, singing and chanting as we played a whole host of games trying to win points for team.  The afternoon continued with more competitions before the winner was finally announced!

Congratulations to Team Blue!  It was a fantastic activity enjoyed by all!

It was time to wash the paint off our faces and relax before we had our next challenge session. It was a nice contrast after a hectic colour war as we discussed and learnt with each other for an hour or so.

Dinner followed and then time for iClub, before a cosy movie night watching The Lion King.

Day 3

Wednesday 5th August
After an early wake up, we were buzzing to find out we would be heading to Alton Towers today!

We all ate breakfast, extremely excited before making our way on the short journey to the theme park! It was a fantastic day and we all loved going on the rides and having fun together, whether it be rollercoasters or carousels. The madrichim took us round in small groups and we all had plenty of time to go on as many rides as we possibly could!

After an exhausting but extremely fun day we returned to the castle and had some time to chill before heading downstairs for dinner.

This was followed by our third challenge session and then time for iClub where we got another chance to try a new activity!

It was a tiring day but definitely one of the highlights of camp so far!  We went to bed worn-out but ready for another day of fun.

Day 2

Tuesday 4th August

After our first Shacharit together and a delicious breakfast, we welcomed the Street Wise team to camp for the morning.  They have us a great session on personal safety and teamwork – something that we can not only use on camp but also take forward with us when we get home.

We then took part in our next challenge session before breaking for lunch.  The next programme was a twist on the classic game 50/50 and was enjoyed by the whole camp, raising the roof with team spirit.

Next was a little bit of free time to relax before we embarked on our next activity… Apprentice!  This was brilliant fun. Our first iClub of camp followed where we were able to choose from a variety of activities and have some fun with our madrichim.

After stocking up on tuck, we had our final activity of the day – Who Done it?! We were incredibly creeped out but had a fantastic time trying to figure out the mystery and who had committed the crime, as we explored all the secret passages and dungeons of the castle.

Day 1

Monday 3rd August

At 9.45am 40 excited participants left Toys R Us carpark ready for the start of our Zev adventure. The coach was filled with laughter, fun and apprehension as everyone got to know each other and find out about their fellow participants.

After a long journey, the coaches finally arrived at Alton Castle, our home for the next week.  The coaches were unloaded and we filed into the beautiful dining room to hear the camp rules and find out who we would be sharing a dorm with.  Then the fun really began.

We took part in numerous ‘getting to know you’ games run by the madrichim, giving us a great opportunity to find out a little more about everyone else.  It was a lot of fun and a great taste of all the other activities to come.

Then it was time for our first Challenge session of camp where we were split into smaller groups and found out about what our learning topics for camp were. This time was slightly more relaxed and gave all a chance to meet people more personally.

Everyone was then given free time to unpack and relax in our new rooms before it was time for dinner.

As well as dinner everyone took part in a fantastic supper quiz with some brilliant questions that got everybody thoroughly involved.  It was great to fill the big dining hall with laughter and noise – something that we hope to carry on through the whole of camp.

It was then shower time before a short sikkum and then off to bed after a tiring day.

Keep up to date with our adventures on this blog every day!
